HR LEadership is back!

CRHRA is pleased to announce that the HR Leadership Program will return in the Fall of 2025.  Since 2006, the CRHRA HR Leadership Program has been bringing together HR professionals with diverse backgrounds who have demonstrated leadership potential for the purpose of making them better equipped to assume leadership responsibilities within their organization and the HR community. The HR Leadership Program exposes participants to the area’s preeminent HR leaders, who address core HR leadership competencies as well as the unique challenges HR faces in various industries.

Since its inception 19 years ago, the HR Leadership Program has graduated 102 alumni, many of whom have moved on to top leadership positions in their organizations.  Additional information about the HR Leadership Program is available here.

Participants are chosen through a competitive application process.  To receive an application, email [email protected].  Applications will be distributed in April and due on May 21, 2025.

Government Affairs News!

Group of HR professionals in front of NYS Capital building

Were you seen at NYS SHRM Advocacy Day? On February 25, HR professionals from around the state, including SHRM, our State Council, and other chapters joined in as we met with legislators at the State Capital.  Topics included Artificial Intelligence, Untapped Talent Pools, and Non-compete Agreements.  Want to get more involved with the ongoings of our Government Affairs committee?  Email us at [email protected].

Diversity Equity & Inclusion

Things will continue to evolve in the world of DEI. We'll continue to provide practical application and discussion on this topic. We know it's impact is far reaching and includes many aspects that are near and dear to the fabric of your organizations. Our latest piece sheds some thoughts on why it's still important for hiring managers to tune into the DEI discussion. READ MORE HERE.

Clean Slate updates

While the NYS Clean Slate Act went into affect in November of 2024, we're monitoring for updates and changes to how you can apply this information in your respective business.  Our Board Secretary, Rebecca Harris, shares the latest HERE.

Mandy Sherman-Stone is our Government Affairs Chair. She is an attorney with nearly 15 years of experience in law firms and state agencies. She now works for Mitratech where she creates content for the Mineral product, which is an HR compliance technology platform. Here are a few things about Mandy that you might not know:

  • Mandy maintains Mineral's law library synthesizing legal requirements in all 50 states, D.C. and the federal government in easy to understand language. Mandy loves this work because it is proactive and provides HR practitioners the resources they need before a legal issue comes up.
  • Mandy tracks legislation to be able to provide timely legal updates and spot trends.
  • Mandy's favorite thing about her work is the ability to empower others to understand the law so they can apply it properly in their workplaces.
  • Mandy's favorite things outside of work are her family including her two precious pups, the beach, legal thrillers, musical theatre, and the New York Mets!
  • Mandy is excited to be a part of the CRHRA Board because it is a great chance to use her skills to support the HR community right in her own backyard.

Final thoughts

First, we always ask for volunteers. The board and all of our committees are volunteer driven. Best paying job you'll ever love! Truly though, it's an opportunity to learn, grow and make lifelong friendships with people in your industry.

Second, we are always interested in your feedback. So much so, we've created a Suggestion Box on our Contact Us page. We're here for you, so if you have an idea, let us hear it.
