CRHRA Diversity Equity & Inclusion Statement
At CRHRA, we firmly believe that equity is the cornerstone of all diversity and inclusion efforts. While diversity brings representation and inclusion fosters a sense of belonging, equity ensures that every individual has access to the opportunities and resources necessary to thrive.
Research from the Center of Urban Education1 shows that equity is not merely a component of inclusion, but the bridge that connects diversity to meaningful inclusion by addressing systemic barriers. Without tackling these barriers, true inclusion cannot be realized. Equity demands that we actively identify and dismantle these barriers, creating pathways that ensure all individuals can experience genuine inclusion.
Our chapter is committed to embedding equity in every aspect of our work, from our programming to our organizational culture. We commit to continuously educating ourselves, our members, and our communities on the importance of equity and to implementing practices that promote fair treatment, access, and advancement for all.
Equity is key to providing access, resources, and opportunities for all, especially those underserved. At CRHRA, we underscore that diversity, equity, and inclusion are interdependent and indivisible, with equal status.
Equity is not just an addendum to our diversity and inclusion efforts; it is the foundation upon which they stand. We will continue to champion equity as a fundamental principle in creating a truly inclusive environment for everyone we serve. Our commitment to fostering a fair and inclusive environment remains steadfast.
1The statement about equity as the bridge between diversity and meaningful inclusion aligns with insights from the Center for Urban Education's focus on equity-minded practices and the necessity of addressing systemic barriers for true inclusion. This perspective is central to their racial equity tools, which emphasize that equity is a foundational principle for fostering meaningful diversity and inclusion by creating equitable opportunities and addressing institutional inequities.
